Establishing and accelerating start-up businesses in developing countries with an emphasis in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.

A504 Select Accounting Topics: Asked by the Accounting Department to again redesign and teach A504 in fall 2015 after class was not taught in spring of 2014 or 2015. Redesigned the syllabus based new the goals and objectives of the department. Selected new teaching materials, specifically the text. Worked directly with the accounting faculty that teach required Financial and Cost Accounting courses in the MBA Program to better ensure that A504 builds on the student learning outcomes of those courses.

D272/A272 Global Business Immersion: Asked by the Kelley School of Business for a three-year commitment to develop and teach a new Global Business Immersion course with the focus on Romania. Established learning goals, selected teaching materials and designed the course outline and student deliverables. Developed professional contacts in both the public and private sectors and lead a group of 24 students to Romania during the spring of 2017.
A505 Field Study Asked by current A505 Faculty and Graduate Accounting Programs to assist with the expansion of the course into the Romanian market. Developed new business contacts in both the public and private sectors securing positions for 8-10 more 3/2 MBAs at 3 different firms. Leveraged information shared by Professor T. Campbell and lessons learned from D272/A272 Global Business Immersion and the A569 Field Consulting course.

MBA Educators –Turnaround Management: Asked by the Kelley School of Business for a two-year commitment to develop and teach a new Turnaround Management course for the MBA Educators program and in conjunction with the Woodrow Wilson Foundation. Established learning goals, selected teaching materials and designed the course outline and student deliverables. Taught the initial section of this course during the summer semester of 2017.

A569 Field Consulting: Started the first year of a planned two-year redesign of the Graduate Accounting Program Field Consulting course. Developed new course material including orientation and project kickoff material and leveraged new project management software Asana. Expanded curriculum included a team-teaching model of four instructors and partnering with the GAP and Fulltime MBA Programs as well as the Johnson Center for Entrepreneurship to identify project sponsors in a “pay-it-back/pay-it-forward” relationship model.

A545 Introduction to Financial Statement Analysis and Valuation: Asked by the Chair of the Accounting Department to teach this course on their behalf as they would be on sabbatical during that semester. A545 is very similar to the A517 and uses the same textbook. Established the learning goals, designed the course outline, created lecture materials, and developed student deliverables. Leveraged information and lessons learned from both A545 and A517. The course was taught using a flipped classroom model which leveraged leading practices identified by fellow accounting faculty during the previous semesters given the logistical and pedagogical challenges created by the Covid-19 pandemic.

X577 Strategic Client Project Practicum: Launched an experiential learning program for the MBA Consulting Academy in conjunction with Senior Lecturer J. Wisneski (Management and Entrepreneurship). Student teams work directly with local businesses to provide consulting services in addressing a current business problem. Student teams are supported by a senior or managing director from one of several professional services firms that actively recruit on campus and who provides additional guidance as required.

Non-Tenured Track Faculty Learning Community: Participant with other non-tenured tract (NTT) faculty across the Bloomington campus to address topics commonly faced by NTT faculty including improving classroom performance, professional development and obtaining mentoring/peer support. A325 Cost Accounting: Began the redesign of the course to include comprehensive training of the data visualization software Tableau to help provide students with skills specifically requested by recruiters and leveraged in A424 Auditing which is required for all accounting majors. The intention is creating a repeatable process so that Tableau may be rolled out across all sections of Cost Accounting.

X545 Business Foundations - Accounting: Asked by the Director of the Center for the Business of Life Sciences to teach this course for the newly created Master of Science in Healthcare Management in conjunction with the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs. Established the learning goals, designed the course outline, selected teaching materials, created lecture materials and developed student deliverables. Leveraged extensive experience teaching A310 Intermediate Accounting, A504 Select Accounting Topics and A696 Accounting for Executives in Life Sciences. Worked with colleagues across multiple disciplines to better ensure that content complimented the learning objectives of multiple topics included in the program including pricing (Marketing), performance measurement (Management) and the time value of money (Finance).

A505 Field Study - Accounting: Asked by the Chair of Graduate Accounting Programs to assume the role of lead instructor due to an emergency medical procedure undertaken by the
previous lead instructor. Worked with colleagues across multiple disciplines to better ensure that content complimented the learning objectives of multiple topics as well as standardizing the process of arranging host organizations and providing logistical support for 50+ GAP students in six countries. Processes are aligned with Office of Overseas Studies, IU and Kelley Alumni Offices and the IU Gateways in Berlin and Thailand.

Youth Entrepreneurship Livelihood Program (YELP). Worked directly with Lecturer F. Schlegal and the Institute of International Business to develop this $300,000 grant from US Department of State. Objectives of the YELP program include developing high-potential local business ventures; assist in establishing student-to-business coaching program at Bethlehem University; provide experiential learning opportunities for Bethlehem University students; and enhancing international cultural exchanges.
